Elite Athletes:

Elite Athletes will be split into Elite Age Group and Elite Pro, but will race together. Prizes are awarded to the top 3 fastest racers for both men and woman in the Elite Category only. The award ceremony will take place at the end of the event.

• Elite Age Group Male & Female Categories:

  • Under 30

  • Masters: 35 - 49

  • Masters Plus: 50+

All races will start in waves.

In 2026, Wairua Warrior presents a chance for our racers to participate in three races in one day and enter the trifecta, the 3km, 5km and 10km races!

The 3km race is Elites only (BUT ANYONE CAN ENTER ANY RACE AS AN ELITE) and an opportunity to smash through the obstacle course and really focus on time. Held around the main hub this is exhilarating for athletes and spectators alike. A very compact race with very different challenges - definitely worth giving it a go. This is our newest race and can open up 3 sets of NZ series points throughout the day Enjoy joining the Elites and enter as a trifecta athlete. 

Trifecta medals are awarded by the fastest time across all 3 events added together NOT by the fastest time of an individual race.

Wairua Warrior presents an exclusive chance for our Elites and for the best-of-the-best to collect three sets of points, qualifying for our new Trifecta and gain points in the NZOSA OCR National series. Giving those participating a step towards New Zealand World Obstacle Championships and In addition, Wairua Warrior presents a direct pathway for some to compete internationally and represent New Zealand at the OCR World Championships.
